The opportunity structure of segregation: School choice and school segregation in Sweden

It is a matter of debate whether free school choice should lead to higher or lower levels segregation. We investigate how opportunities affect segregation utilizing geocoded Swedish population register data with information on 13 cohorts ninth graders. find that local strongly the sorting students across schools based parents’ country birth and level education.
